About the Founder

After getting her Ph.D. in cellular biology, founder Michelle Tu launched a skincare brand. However, she realized that her core values didn’t align with that of the cutthroat skincare industry and found herself turning to candle-making to relieve stress. Michelle’s candle-making started to gain more attention and demand, and she eventually decided to turn her hobby into a business—and that’s how Modern Theory came to be!
